A question asked by someone just like you.
Did any kind of horse
have
a horn on its forehead?

In the rest of your letter, you suggested that a horse with a horn might explain the belief in unicorns. Many other people have also wondered about a scientific explanation for the unicorn myth.
Scientists don’t know of a horse that had horns. Stories about unicorns might have begun after European explorers returned from India and described the rhinoceros. Or the stories might have started with ancient pictures that showed a side view of horned animals. In some of those pictures, only one horn shows, and the animal looks a bit like our idea of a unicorn.
